Quantity Surveyor - Essex
The Company: A privately owned, specialist building consultancy, providing an end-to-end service to clients in the education & healthcare sectors, working exclusively with academies, schools, colleges and universities across the UK.
While education and healthcare remain the firm's core focus, the company is actively preparing to expand into the residential market.
After steering through the pandemic with a close-knit team of just eight, they’ve grown into a thriving business with over 50 people across two offices!
The Role: They are seeking to recruit a QS to join their Project Management team in Essex!
You will be part of an expanding and diverse team of professionals, responsible for the procurement and delivery of a vast array of construction, mechanical and electrical related projects. This includes (but not limited to): new build schemes, fire door renewals, cladding and window renewals, new heating and ventilation systems, new electrical distribution (power, general and emergency lighting), fire alarm renewals, laboratory refurbishments and drainage replacements.
You will be responsible for the undertaking typical PM, CA & EA functions/duties alongside their QS role.
You will also be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes (but not limited to) cost planning, budgeting, tender management, contract administration, and ensuring that all financial and contractual aspects are controlled efficiently.

Requirements for the Quantity Surveyor:
Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or a similar role within the construction industry
Proficiency in cost estimating and financial analysis software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Excel)
Excellent analytical and numerical skills
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and project management principles
Demonstratable experience working within a consultancy environment
Professional membership with a recognized Quantity Surveying or Construction Management body (e.g., RICS, CIQS) is preferred
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
Previous experience working within the Education / Healthcare sector (desirable)
